Johanna Chase

Johanna Chase’s music is an eruption of folky love and political rock. From the influences of Ani Difranco, Dave Matthews Band, and Modest Mouse, Johanna speaks her stories through biblical poetics and a female perspective.  Her Seattle roots (see: RobertC.E.DeLong) are never too far from her inovations and her politics never too far from her lyrics.  She has a fury for "the MAN" and a hope for the future, exfoliating soundbytes off her skin and shedding the unneccesarry to make room for the newest and most helpful way of being.  Her love for closet drumming and solid rock music finds its place among her deep concern for the articulation of "not so simple subjects".  Johanna released her 4th full-length album in June 2008 ("AZUSA") and is annually frequenting the Northwest, Northeast, and Southwest regions on small tours...so keep your ears perked, as her live shows are packed with political and poignant punch.
