The Denouement

The Denouement is a Southern California-based band comprised of music majors and visual artists:

Andrew Pledger: Keyboards
Keiko Ward: Background vocals, violin, orchestral bells
Malachi Ward: Vocals, percussion
matthew lee: Guitar
Robert DeLong: Drums, MIDI sequencing
Sam Ward: Bass

Their most recent album, Low Tide, is a collection of rock music that is stylistically diverse while retaining a sonically distinct authorship. The songs exhibit male and female vocals atop nontraditional time signatures, and harmonic progressions evocative of jazz. The band’s aesthetic infuses a range of sounds, featuring forceful bursts of distortion and gang vocals along side clanks of home-made percussion and delta-tinged slide guitar. Atmospheric and ambient textures pervade, endowing a consistent musical climate throughout the album. Engineered by guitarist matthew lee at the Cal Poly Pomona recording studio and produced by The Denouement, Low Tide is a DIY landmark, worldly and experimental while remaining visceral and accessible.
